Modern Market opened its first university campus location this week in the Duncan Student Center at the University of Notre Dame. The newest restaurant makes 27 total units for the company, according to a company press release.
"This location is another way for us to deliver on our mission to serve amazing, healthy food to as many people as possible," co-founder Rob McColgan, said in the release. "It's an honor and privilege to be part of the incredible new Duncan Student Center, and we are thankful to the university for giving us this opportunity."
McColgan, a Notre Dame alumnus, and Anthony Pigliacampo used funds from the university’s McCloskey Business Plan Competition in 2009, to open the first Modern Market restaurant in Boulder, Colorado. McColgan graduated summa cum laude from the university in 2002, with degrees in finance and film and then spent six years in New York with Goldman Sachs.
