MOD Pizza has opened its 100th U.S. store, located in Downey, California. This year the company expects to continue opening new stores at an accelerated pace, doubling its footprint and bringing locations to six new U.S. markets, as well as the U.K., according to a company press release. With a current employee base of 2,200 'MOD Squad' team members, the growth will create more than 2,500 new jobs in 2016.
"It has been an exciting journey on the way to our 100th store, as we have created not only a new and innovative way for customers to experience pizza, but a people-centric culture that fuels our desire to grow the MOD brand," said Scott Svenson, co-founder and CEO of MOD. "We believe a successful business can be built around its people, and we are excited our customers share this belief and continue to support MOD throughout the U.S. We look forward to remaining on our growth trajectory of opening 100 stores per year for the foreseeable future."
MOD's 100th location is the tenth in the Los Angeles area, and is located at 8896 Apollo Way in Downey. MOD will be donating 100 percent of all pizza sales on opening day to a local, community-based charity, the release stated. For the Downey opening, MOD has partnered with the Brotherhood Crusade, which is dedicated to supporting and improving the lives of low-income and underserved individuals.
