Mississippi Backyard Burgers franchisee opens 5th unit

Back Yard Burgers, which recently opened in Columbus, MIssissippi, at 1913 Highway 45 N., is hosting its grand opening celebrations today through Saturday. Festivities include the Hometown Heroes Day, which on Wednesday gives all members of law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs, active duty and veteran military personnel, 50 percent off dine-in orders, according to a company press release.

The chain is also giving burgers to the first 200 people in line Saturday and is accepting donations for No Kid Hungry and its local partners whose mission is to eliminate childhood hunger in American and in Columbus.

"We want to show our gratitude to those that serve and those in need," said Franchisee Josh Powell, who also owns four Back Yard Burgers in Mississippi. "Our heroes can enjoy Back Yard Burgers flamed-grilled 100 percent Black Angus beef burgers, its famous seasoned fries and hand-dipped milkshakes for 50 percent off the regular price on April 25."

In addition to serving up discounts for those that serve, Back Yard Burgers offers a 25 percent discount to military and veterans service men and women year-round.
