Microsoft hands out 1,500 Calbi tacos at 2010 SXSWi Festival

March 23, 2010

Calbi Fusion Tacos and Burritos, the five-unit Los Angeles-based gourmet Korean-fusion mobile food chain, prepared and distributed 1,500 tacos for Microsoft at the South by South West Interactive Festival in Austin, Texas, March 12-14. The festival attracted more than 10,000 attendees, and hosted five days of presentations and networking events surrounding emerging technology.

Microsoft highlighted the conveniences of its new Windows Phone by directing SXSWi attendees to a curb parked Calbi taco truck before, and after, highly anticipated events Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

"We are honored for the opportunity to have supported Microsoft in such a creative way. The SXSWi Conference was an excellent venue to gain exposure and show what Calbi Fusion Tacos and Burritos has to offer," said Calbi president Coleen Craig in a news release.

The expanding gourmet Korean-fusion taco and burrito mobile food chain also is exploring growth in markets throughout the United States and is investigating locations for its first brick and mortar restaurant. Additionally, the chain plans to offer its specialty spices and sauces on retail shelves sometime in the near future.
