Pollo Tropical is expanding its Texas presence with two locations opening late summer in Houston and San Antonio. The restaurants will feature Pollo Tropical’s new Caribbean-style design that incorporates bright island colors and details to help guests soak up the feel of a shore-side retreat, while enjoying handmade, island-inspired cuisine, according to a company press release.
The Houston location opens Aug. 19 at 3170 Gulf Freeway in League City, and the San Antonio location opens Sept. 2 in Thousand Oaks at 4335 Thousand Oaks Drive.
Both units will host grand opening celebrations featuring calypso bands, spin-and-win prizes and a Robo-surfer challenge, where contestants will compete for first- and second-place prizes of $500 and $300 to go to their favorite charity. The first 100 guests will also have the chance to win a raffle for the grand prize of Free Chicken for a Year and receive a free meal coupon, redeemable on a future visit.
"We set our sights on Texas in 2014 with the opening of our first location in Addison, and the response to our brand in the Lone Star State has been great," said Pollo Tropical Chief Operating Officer Danny Meisenheimer. "We now have 19 Texas restaurants and have four more locations slated for the Dallas-Fort Worth area by year’s end, with continued expansion planned for 2016."
