McDonald's has partnered with digital trust and safety provider, Sift, to safeguard and streamline the customer experience on the QSR's mobile app in select countries across Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania, a news release said.

Through the partnership, McDonald's will have access to Sift's machine-learning technology and global data network for customers using its mobile order-ahead and contactless payment options, which have both increased in popularity since the pandemic.

"For quick-service restaurants, getting the user experience right — especially on mobile apps —while preventing fraud can be a difficult balancing act," Sift President and CEO Marc Olesen said in the release. "We're excited to be a part of McDonald's Digital Trust & Safety strategy that enables them to streamline the customer experience associated with mobile orders."

McDonald's said the move was in response to customer demand for safe and easy ordering and payment.

"Our customers have made it clear that they want the option to order and pay for their favorite McDonald's meals using mobile devices," Leandro Balbinot, McDonald's senior vice president, Technology - Product Engineering & Data said in the release. "With the use of Sift's technology, McDonald's will continue to expand our mobile ordering channel around the world and keep our customers satisfied."

McDonald's has more than 38,000 locations globally and is based in Chicago.
