McAlister's repurchases eight La. restaurants
April 10, 2008
RIDGELAND, Miss. — McAlister's Deli has announced it has purchased eight franchisee-owned restaurants in Louisiana from Mark Hagwood of Hagwood Management Inc., in an effort to restructure the split between company- and franchisee-owned restaurants.
Over the past six years, McAlister's franchise initiative has shifted the balance between company- and franchisee-owned restaurants to approximately 90 percent franchisee-owned and 10 percent company owned; to restore the balance, McAlister's plans to make upwards of five acquisitions over the next 18 to 24 months.
In addition to the acquisition, McAlister's is actively looking for new sites in the Louisiana markets of Baton Rouge and Shreveport, and has plans to open a new restaurant in Alexandria in the fall.
