McAlister's reports successful year of sales

February 5, 2014

McAlister's Deli reported Tuesday that it had a solid year of growth in 2013. For the year, same-store sales increased 4.8 percent, and company-owned store sales performance was driven by a 3.7-percent increase in entrée sales, indicating traffic gains, according to a company press release. Total system sales in 2013 were $459 million with an average unit volume of $1.5 million for all traditional stores continuously open and operating during 2013.

Additionally, McAlister's announced the opening of 12 new restaurants in 2013, as well as the signing of 11 development agreements representing 63 future locations. These agreements are in existing markets, including Indiana, Texas, North Carolina and South Carolina, and in new markets such as northern New Jersey, Buffalo, N.Y., Orlando, Salt Lake City and Boise, Idaho.

"We are pleased to deliver another year of strong growth for the brand. Over the past two years, we have grown cumulative same stores sales by 12.9 percent," said McAlister's Deli President and CEO Frank Paci. "Our growth is a testament to our franchisees' and operators' continued commitment to providing great food and genuine hospitality to our guests."

In 2014, the McAlister's brand will celebrate its 25th anniversary and expects to open 25 new restaurants. The first four locations are scheduled to open by mid-February in North Abilene, Andrews and Irving, Texas, as well as Lawton, Okla., according to the release.
