McAlister's opening 'Somewhere in Middle America'

McAlister's Deli is opening its first Omaha, Neb., unit at 10 a.m. Monday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, according to a company press release.

"We are very excited to introduce Omaha to McAlister's great food and genuine hospitality," said McAlister's Deli Franchisee George Pendleton, who owns two McAlister's locations in Colorado and plans to open five additional restaurants in the Omaha area over the next three years.

The restaurant, located at 12405 West Center Road in Westwood Plaza, has a week-long celebration planned with daily events including:

  • Dec. 9 – 10 a.m. Ribbon Cutting with The Greater Omaha Chamber. Also, the first 50 guests will receive $25 McAlister's gift cards.
  • Dec. 10 – Kids eat free all day. Receive up to two free kids meals with purchase of an adult entree.
  • Dec. 11 – Wounded Warriors Family Support Fundraiser. Ten percent of the day's proceeds will go to benefit Wounded Warriors Family Support, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the families of those who have been injured or killed in combat.
  • Dec. 12 – Free Tea Day. Receive a free 32-ounce glass of McAlister's Famous Sweet Tea.
  • Dec. 13 – Free Cookie. (Bring this article and receive a free cookie. One per person, no purchase necessary.)
