August 21, 2008
The Boston Globe: The Massachusetts public health commissioner has responded enthusiastically to a lawmaker's request that his agency impose a statewide ban on trans fats.
Public Health Commissioner John Auerbach said in the coming days he will look into whether his agency has the regulatory authority to impose such a statewide ban and also confer with the local health officials who would enforce it. The Massachusetts cities of Boston, Brookline and Cambridge have already passed such prohibitions.
