Lovin' Spoons partners with Freshëns to intro proprietary yogurt

August 24, 2012

Customers visiting a Lovin' Spoons store are now able to dig into cups of the company's own self-branded frozen yogurt. The fast casual chain partnered with Atlanta-based Freshëns Quality Brands – the nation's largest yogurt and smoothie company – to create a new yogurt and sorbet lineup for its stores, Diane Kahn, president and founder of Lovin' Spoons, said in a company press release.

"Our new yogurt has more intense flavor 'top notes' and provides a richer, creamier consistency," she said. "We've worked closely with Freshëns to create a truly premium product that is exclusive to Lovin Spoons."

Now encompassing four locations, Lovin' Spoons has been shaking up the Southeast's frozen yogurt scene since the launch of its first store in Savannah in November 2010. Prior to opening, Kahn spent a year researching yogurt shops nationwide, developing best practices that focus on a premium product, strong customer service etiquette, store cleanliness and creative branding.

By pairing that business approach with a unique 1970s-inspired ambiance and décor – including a vintage Volkswagen Beetle in every store – the Lovin' Spoons concept has proven a huge hit with dessert lovers in Georgia and South Carolina, Kahn said.

As the self-serve yogurt company looks to expand through franchise opportunities in Atlanta and beyond, Kahn expects the alliance with Freshëns to boost interest in Lovin' Spoons. Together, the two companies have developed 35 new flavors, which include healthy low-fat, fat-free, non-dairy sorbets and sugar-free options specifically formulated to meet the diverse customer base.
