Having opened eight locations in Long Island over the past 20 years, the Long Island Bagel Cafe is now in the franchising game. Its first franchisee, Michael Stern, opened the unit on Aug. 18 in Scarsdale, New York, at 365 Central Park Ave. He has plans to open at least two others.

The store, which is part of LIBC's expansion plans for New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, sports a multifaceted menu specializing in breakfast and lunch options, pastries and baked goods, salads, sandwiches, wraps and paninis, according to a company press release.

"Opening an LIBC franchise was a no-brainer," Stern said in the release. "Once I learned the ins-and-outs of the business and experienced the hands-on support of the entire team firsthand, I realized that this was the smartest decision I could have made. At only 30 years old, I am now the owner and operator of my own business, and my career path is set with LIBC, and that offers financial security. Notably, the average LIBC unit averages in excess of $2.1 million in revenue annually."

LIBC Scarsdale, which also offers catering services, has a new logo and branding as well as an updated website.
