Founded by third-generation Washingtonian cousins David and Nick Wiseman and chef Ronen Tenne, Little Sesame has launched a line of grocery-ready hummus, expanding the Washington, D.C.-based fast casual brand's footprint as home cooks increasingly incorporate plant-based foods in meals.
"We are proud to bring our planet friendly hummus to market," Nick Wiseman said in a company press release. "We want to make hummus the everyday alternative protein"
Declared "...the best hummus in the city" by The Washington Post, Little Sesame's freshly spun hummus is made in small batches, using the same recipe that helped earn the restaurant broad popularity. The grocery-ready line includes Smooth Classic Hummus, Caramelized Onion Hummus and Jammy Tomato Hummus.
The hummus trio will be available for purchase from the Little Sesame shops and D.C's Foxtrot markets for home delivery from 4P Foods and direct-to-consumers at both Central Farm Markets in Bethesda, Maryland. The full line-up will soon be on regional grocery store shelves as well.
Little Sesame uses organic Kabuli chickpeas as the base for its hummus, grown by Casey Bailey on his family's 5,000-acre farm in Fort Benton, Montana.
"Every pint of hummus you eat is an investment in a healthier planet," Nick Wiseman said.
