For its latest menu creations, la Madeleine Country French Café is channeling the philosophy and way of life of the people living in Provence, a region in the south of France, according to ca company press release. The residents there aspire each day to recognize the "joie de vivre," or the "joy of life," by slowing down, savoring each meal and cherishing time with family and friends, the company said. They incorporate fresh, seasonal vegetables, fruits and herbs that pervade the French countryside into their diets, said Susan Dederen, vice president of culinary for la Madeleine, who also said the region was the inspiration behind the "Flavors of Provence" menu items at la Madeleine. It include three new salades including the Chicken, Bacon & Bleu; Roasted Vegetable, Chicken & Goat Cheese; or Cranberry Pecan Wild Field. Additionally, la Madeleine is featuring a variety of lemon pâtisseries made from scratch, including their namesake Lemon Madeleines, Lemon Tarts and a limited-time Lemon Cream Cake.
"With our new Provence-inspired salades and pâtisseries, guests can experience the essence of the south of France, which is dotted with country cafés and large outdoor markets," Dederen said. "Perfect for springtime, these menu items highlight the best of fresh, seasonal ingredients. My personal favorite is the pesto roasted vegetable salade with goat cheese. The goat cheese adds a creamy tang paired with an array of vegetables at their peak, it is a wonderful combination."
