La Madeleine raising funds for Share Our Strength

September 9, 2013

La Madeleine Country French Café is teaming up with restaurants across the nation for Share Our Strength's annual No Kid Hungry campaign to help end childhood hunger in America. La Madeleine is asking guests to help raise $200,000 this year, which is double the amount raised last year. Meeting this new fundraising goal will help provide children in need with up to 2 million meals, according to a company press release.

Starting this week, la Madeleine guests who show their support with a donation of $1 or more will receive their choice of a freshly baked sugar, chocolate chunk or oatmeal raisin pecan cookie. Additionally, guests who donate $5 will receive a coupon booklet with six deals on la Madeleine favorites, including a free pastry, jar of tomato basil soupe and specialty coffee.

"More than 16 million children — or one in five kids — live in households that struggle to put food on the table. Additionally, 62 percent of America's teachers regularly see kids who come to school hungry because they aren't getting enough to eat at home," said John Cahill, chief operating officer of la Madeleine. "The kick-off to a new school year also means the kick-off to la Madeleine's support of the No Kid Hungry campaign, and we sincerely hope that our guests will join us to help end childhood hunger in America."

To meet its new fundraising goal, la Madeleine extended the campaign by a week and will accept donations for the campaign at all locations through Sept. 30 with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting Share Our Strength. Guests also can make donations online by visiting la Madeleine's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/laMadeleineCafe.
