Kentucky Orange Leafs supporting local farmers

September 27, 2013

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt in Lexington, Ky., will host a celebration Oct. 1 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to kick off a partnership with Udderly Kentucky.

Udderly Kentucky is a new milk brand that is entirely produced and processed in Kentucky, which means the partnership will ensure that Orange Leaf Lexington and other locations will support local dairy farmers and use milk that is 100 percent produced locally, according to a company press release.

The kickoff event will be held at the Lexington store, which is located at 3090 Helmsdale Place, at the Brighton shopping center.

Owner Evan Morris said the event will feature giveaways, contests, games for the kids, as well as 50 percent off every cup of frozen yogurt from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Morris also said John Calipari, coach of the University of Kentucky basketball team, as well as James Comer, Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture, will be at the event.

"Bryce, Jeremiah and I are from Kentucky, and our goal has always been to help make this state a better place," Morris said. "In Kentucky, Orange Leaf is the number one milk purchaser outside of grocery stores, and thus, through this partnership, we are 100 percent supporting Kentucky dairy farmers and providing customers with froyo made fresh daily with extremely fresh milk."

Udderly Kentucky is also being used in other Orange Leaf Kentucky locations including Louisville, Richmond, Bowling Green, Somerset and Danville.
