Judge frees $60M in Pollo Campero suit

Associated Press:A judge on Tuesday released $60 million in assets that had been frozen for seven years as part of a legal feud within the Guatemalan family who controls a chain of fried chicken restaurants.

Judge Herbert Stettin lifted the 1999 order freezing the assets, despite claims by a company founder that he was cheated out of millions of dollars by two nephews who now run the business.

The conglomerate's most famous brand is Pollo Campero, which is Latin America's answer to Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). The chain was founded in 1971 and now has more than 200 franchises selling its signature spicy fried chicken in the United States, Central America and Mexico.
