JRI Hospitality has acquired the restaurant operations of Manhattan, Kansas-based HCI Hospitality, a move that adds 43 Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers locations to the Salina-based group's portfolio.

The deal expands JRI's footprint to more than 130 Freddy's units across 18 states.

"The acquisition of HCI is a unique opportunity to bring two great teams together," Jason Ingermanson, founder and CEO of JRI Hospitality, said in a company press release. "Their reputation, consistent performance and commitment to integrity and quality align closely with our own values."

In addition to the Freddy's locations, the acquisition includes HCI's holdings of JC's BBQ and Grill in Junction City, Kansas, and Powercat Sports Grill in Manhattan, Kansas. Booth Creek Wagyu, another brand in the HCI portfolio, will continue to be owned and operated by Dave Dreiling, the founder of HCI.

As part of the integration, Cam Blakely, the CEO of HCI, will join JRI as president of operations for the Freddy's brand.

"I am thrilled to have HCI's restaurant operations become part of JRI Hospitality under Jason's strong leadership," Dreiling said in the release. "Our shared mission of genuine hospitality and expanded opportunities for our team members will guide us in this next chapter."

With 15 years in the industry, JRI Hospitality now operates a portfolio of more than 145 restaurants. The company remains focused on growth with Freddy's and other concepts, including Mokas Coffee & Eatery.

JRI is seeking to expand Mokas through franchising, supported by a leadership team that includes Scott Redler, a co-founder of Freddy's and a board member at Mokas.
