Jollibee adds to Canadian portfolio

August 12, 2019

Philippines-based Jollibee is opening Friday in Alberta, Canada. The restaurant — located at 3803 Calgary Trail N.W., Unit 914, Edmonton — is the chain's fifth location to open in the country.

Jollibee, the largest fast-food chain brand in the Philippines, has major global expansion plans, including opening 100 units over the next five years in Canada, according to a company press release. The brand is owned by Jollibee Food Corporation.

"We are excited to finally open our doors in Alberta with our new Edmonton location," Maribeth Dela Cruz, president of JFC North America, said in the release. "Since opening locations in Scarborough and Mississauga over the past year, we've been looking forward to serving Edmonton and making it easier for them to satisfy all of their Jollibee cravings."

The Jollibee menu offers global cuisine, including its Jolly Crispy Chicken, burgers, fires, rice dishes and Jolly Spaghetti, which has slices of ham and hot dogs.

JFC has more than 4,500 stores in 21 countries and opened its first North American store in 1998, in Daly City, California. The company now has 42 units in the US and Canada.
