In recognition of its franchise and sales success overseas, Johnny Rockets received the President's E Award for Exports at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. The awards are the highest recognition any U.S. entity may receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports, according to a company press release.
"Johnny Rockets continues to see strong brand adoption in international markets, in part based on Johnny Rockets' 30-year history and overwhelming brand awareness, as well as its flexibility to adapt to a country's needs," said James Walker, president of Global Operations and Development, Johnny Rockets. "We feel honored to be the only restaurant to receive the E Award this year and look forward to continuing to focus on international growth, enabling us to offer more jobs and deliver quality, all-American menu items to consumers in international markets."
U.S. companies are nominated for the E Award for Exports through the Department of Commerce's U.S. Commercial Service office network, located within the Department's International Trade Administration. A total of 123 U.S. companies were presented with the award this year.
"Congratulations to Johnny Rockets for its achievements in exporting," said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, who presented the chain with the award. "The recipients honored by this award demonstrate the opportunity inherent in selling Made-in-America products to the broad customer base that exists outside our borders. Their success contributes to growth, job creation, competitiveness, and the success of the American economy."
