Japanese crepe concept opens in US

August 1, 2013

Eight Turn Crepe, a fast casual restaurant offering hand-crafted Japanese-inspired crepes, opened its first U.S. location this week in New York City. Serving crepes that are made fresh-to-order and served in a traditional Japanese cone-style, Eight Turn Crepe features better-for-you recipes with a Western-Asian influence, said Hiro Nishisa, partner at Eight Turn Crepe. The new concept is located in the heart of Manhattan at 55 Spring St., New York.

Open to the public now, the new SoHo restaurant offers more than 20 menu items, including breakfast crepes, light salad and meat crepes and desserts. Eight Turn Crepe recipes are made with ingredients including fresh fruits and sweet berries, seasonal vegetables and homemade chocolate truffles. The company has developed a proprietary, first-to-market rice flour dough that is naturally gluten-free, as well as tofu-based sauce and yogurt whipped cream delivering a lower calorie experience with superior taste. The new eatery also offers drinks, including yuzulade and matcha latte (green tea), as well as La Colombe Coffee.

"Crepes are traditionally a guilty pleasure or indulgent treat. We're redefining the way people think about and enjoy crepes by using fresh, unique ingredients you can feel good about eating," Nishisa said. "New Yorkers live a busy lifestyle, but they've also got a sophisticated palette and won't sacrifice taste for convenience. Our crepes are a delicious, on-the-go option made with high-quality ingredients and amazing flavor profiles that meet New Yorkers' expectations."

From today through Aug. 3, New Yorkers can enjoy a variety of Harajuku-themed activities and entertainment in-store to celebrate the launch of Eight Turn Crepe in the U.S. market. The Eight Turn Crepe concept originated in Ginza, Japan, with the opening of its first location in March 2013.
