Ivar's to donate Tuesday chowder sales to fallen officers fund

December 6, 2009

Ivar's Seafood Restaurants has announced it will donate 100 percent of profits from chowder sold Tuesday, Dec. 8 (whether it's a cup, bowl, tanker or bread bowl) to the trust for the families of fallen Lakewood, Wash., police officers via the Lakewood Police Independent Guild Fund. The benefit is valid at all Ivar's locations that day and customers can also make donations at any Ivar's (checks can be made out to LPIGCF).

The Lakewood Ivar's team joins its community in mourning the loss of its heroes, Lakewood Police Officers Greg Richards, Tina Griswold, Ronald Owens as well as Sgt. Mark Renninger, who were fatally shot Sunday morning, Nov. 29.

"These officers were our protectors in a community where we have operated our business for years, and we will miss them dearly," said Paul Lawson, district manager of Ivar's Seafood Bar in Lakewood. "They were also our friends and customers."
