Indian concept opens in Chicago Loop

The Indian fast casual brand, Naansense, has opened at 171 N. Wells St., in Chicago's Loop, where Chefs Hiran Patel and Sahil Singh are serving their favorite traditional Indian recipes "re-imagined" with a modern spin, according to a company press release.

The menu at the 24-seat restaurant includes made-to-order wraps and rice and salad bowls filled with house-braised, roasted and grilled meats, pickled vegetables, housemade farmer's cheese, sauces and chutneys, plus a variety of authentic sides and beverages with a twist.

The menu at Naansense begins with the "Chef Recommendations," giving diners the chance to select from the chefs' favorite combinations of proteins and vegetables, warm sauces and cool chutneys in naanwiches, roti rolls and rice and salad bowls. Guests can also opt to "Build Your Own." Each creation is complemented with sauces made from scratch using customary Indian spices and fresh naan bread baked in a tandoor oven, according to the release.

The concept also has weekly rotating soups, side dishes, dessertss, hot chai and mango lassi. Diners also can find a variety of vegan and gluten-free options indicated on the menu board.

Décor

The décor is a compilation of work from local artists, including Graffiti artist, Kane One, who makes his mark by decking out the walls in neon colors and elements and symbols of both Chicago and India. There is also a rotating art wall now showcasing artist Tim Jarosz and his depiction of scenes from around the Windy City. Guests waiting in line may contribute to the wall by writing a thought of the day, note to a friend or simply any 'naansense' that comes to the mind, according to the release.

Other services

Aside from serving the Indian-inspired eats inside the Loop spot, Naansense also offers extensive catering options for office lunches, social events and business groups up to 400 people. The eatery also offers online ordering and will soon add food trucks.
