Independent restaurants supported with 'gifts of gratitude'

Restaurant.com, a dining deals site, is offering savings at more than 20,000 restaurants and giving free gifts of gratitude to independently owned restaurants across the country, the company announced in a press release. The company's Plates of Thanks campaign is designed to support the country's independent restaurants, according to the announcement.

"Restaurant.com is excited to announce the restaurant winners of our Plates of Thanks initiative and we are thrilled to offer a gesture of gratitude to independent restaurants," Kenneth C. Chessick, Restaurant.com Chairman and CEO, said in a statement. "Our company knows the incredible value these locally owned establishments bring to their communities and we look forward to honoring their contributions."

Twenty winners were selected from a pool of those nominated by diners in May. The gifts include restaurant equipment, marketing support, landscaping and flooring. Restaurant.com is delivering the gifts of gratitude live on-site at the following five restaurants:

• Due Amici Pizza in Tampa, kJune 16
• Randi's Restaurant & Bar in Philadelphia, June 17
• Kimi's Bistro in Atlanta, June 18
• Truffles and Bacon Cafe in Las Vegas, June 23
• Prost! in Chicago, June 25

A list of all 20 selected Plates of Thanks restaurants is available on the Restaurant.com restaurant blog at partnerblog.restaurant.com, the announcement said.

Additionally, twenty small businesses will be selected to receive bundles of $25 Restaurant.com cards designed to attract, reward and thank customers with Restaurant.com savings.
