Illegal Pete's fulfills minimum wage mission

March 13, 2019

The employee minimum wage (tipped) at Illegal Pete's increased to $15 an hour this year and each employee will make an average of $12,000 more each year going forward, according to a press release.

The increase reflects the brand's mission to "nourish and sustain" as part of its Living Wage Initiative.

"We began our Living Wage Initiative in June of 2015, and we're proud to say we hit our goal in January of 2019. While we're investing an additional $3 million annually in our employees, we've now proven we can absorb the expense — even thrive,” said founder Pete Turner in the release.

Turner spoke on the topic of a "Living Wage" at FastCasual.com's annual executive conference in 2015.
