Ike's Love & Sandwiches gearing up for growth

April 4, 2019

Ike's Love & Sandwiches hopes to celebrate the opening of its 100th location by the end of 2020. The California-based chain has been expanding this year, for example, opening eights units during Q1. By the end of 2019, the brand will add at least 12 more, bringing its total to more than 70, according to a company press release.

"We have strong unit economics and have increased sales by 50% year-over-year because of our fanatic guests," CEO Michael Goldberg said in the release. "Our fans love our audacious brand, craveable sandwiches with secret Dirty Sauce as well as our huge Vegan menu."

While strengthening its presence across California, the chain is also expanding its footprint outside the state. It recently opened in Reno, Nevada, for example, will enter the Las Vegas market later this year. It has one store in Honolulu, four locations in the Phoenix area and plans to open its first locations in Texas and Salt Lake City, Utah.

Ike's Love & Sandwiches first opened in 2007, under the name "Ike's Place" in San Francisco with sandwiches created by Owner Ike Shehadeh. The sandwich shop has 500 combinations, but Shehadeh is constantly adding new options. Celebrity fans, including San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgardner and Adam Richmond, host of "Man vs. Food," often work with Shehadeh to develop their own namesake sandwiches.
