More than 2,249 companies — including those in the catering, pizza, gelato, bakery, coffee, tea, vending machines and tableware industries — are gathering this week in Milan, Italy, for the 41st edition of HostMilano, a tradeshow featuring technology and equipment trends in the restaurant and hospitality industries, according to a company press release.
HostMilano not only includes kitchen equipment from all over the world, but also hosts national and international competitions, cooking demos, pastry-making and bartending exhibitions.
Last year, world sales of professional equipment surpassed 54.8 billion euro ($59 billion), with Italy among the world's leading exporting countries, according to data from the Ulisse Information System developed for HostMilano.
More than 1,500 hosted buyers will come to Milan from 80 countries (mainly from the U.S., Canada, the Middle East, UAE, China and Russia), with an 80% turnover and an increasingly comprehensive combination of types, and more than 100 accredited international journalists, according to the release.
The event is rounded out with the BeMyHost project, which brings together 20 Host Ambassadors — all international and Italian influencers with thousands of followers — who are tasked with sharing the latest trends in hospitality.
