After opening its first location four years ago in Connecticut, Haven Hot Chicken is launching a franchise program, signing commitments for over 25 locations with multi-unit franchisees. The first two out-of-state restaurants are set to open in Franklin, Massachusetts, in mid-January, and in Durham, North Carolina, in 2026.

The brand, which began as a New Haven pop-up, now operates nine brick-and-mortar locations across Connecticut, according to a press release.

"We didn't start Haven Hot Chicken to be just another chicken place," Jason Sobocinski, president and co-founder, said in the release. "We built it to set a higher bar. Food that over delivers, hospitality that makes our guests feel seen and a business that gives back to its local community."

The company said its first franchisee partners are multi-unit QSR operators who also own and operate Jersey Mike's locations. The initial two franchise openings will be at 477 W. Central St. in Franklin, Massachusetts, and 706 9th St. in Durham, North Carolina, near Duke University. Two to four additional openings are slated for later next year.

"Our platform, Born Hot. Raised Right., shows up in the food and the way we treat people," CEO and co-Founder Etkin Tekin said, noting all chicken served is 100% Halal-certified, and the menu includes vegetarian options.

The initial investment for a franchisee ranges from $350,000 to $850,000, with a franchise fee of $18,500.

Company highlights include:

  • Average unit volumes: $1.6 million to $2.2 million.
  • Store-level profitability: 16% to 25%.
  • Expansion plans: The brand is seeking multi-unit operators and experienced restaurateurs for territories in Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and North Carolina.
