Halal Guys ink 50-unit SoCal deal

New York City-based street food concept The Halal Guys has signed a 50-unit franchise deal for Southern California.

The deal gives the franchisee exclusive rights to San Luis Obispo, Kern and San Bernardino counties, as well as everything south of those markets.

The Southern California franchisee group plans to start its expansion in Los Angeles and Orange County with 5 stores anticipated to open by the end of 2015. The stores will range between 1,200 – 1,500 square feet, plus patio for outdoor dining.

The Halal Guys is expanding internationally through a combination of corporate and franchised stores. The first two brick-and-mortar locations are corporate stores, now open in Manhattan in the East Village, and on the Upper West Side. It has also signed multi-unit franchise deals for Houston, Texas; Washington, D.C.; Chicago, Illinois; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; the Philippines, Kuala Lumpur, and Malaysia.
