The International Foodservice Manufacturers Association is joining forces with food industry management consultancy, Kinetic12, to develop a set of best practices for foodservice supply chain optimization, according to a news release. The two will build off of IFMA's existing Operator Collaboration Model to help foodservice businesses and vendors have access to proven supply chain practices.
IFMA and Kinetic12 will oversee a Development Board for the initiative, comprised of supply chain experts working with supply chain management group, HAVI, and research company, Datassential, to allow manufacturers and distributors to work directly with operators. The overall goal is to establish the best proven ways to supply core menu and limited time offer products to the food service industry.
"This is an excellent opportunity for food service leaders to develop a more efficient and effective supply chain," IFMA CEO and President Larry Oberkfell, said in a news release. "The food service industry has a distinct advantage because all areas of the supply chain will truly collaborate and build best practices. The goal of this initiative is to create best practices that drive sales by ensuring product in the right place, at the right time, in the right quantity."
