In an effort to support all the people who aren't getting paid while the government is shut down, the Washington D.C.--area Firenza Pizza locations are giving anyone who mentions the shutdown a 10-inch cheese pizza for $3 and a coupon for a free one with a purchase on their next visit.
"This will happen every Monday of the shutdown if it continues," Stacey Kane, who handles all things marketing, said in an email to FastCasual. "We are calling it "F" (irenza) the Shutdown.' Shutdowns hurt more than just government workers. It can cripple D.C. businesses who depend on these folks."
Firenza, which opened its first unit in March 2015, in Fairfax, Virginia, now has more than 12 units and is looking to grow via franchising.
