Goodcents is expanding into Pennsylvania early next year after signing an area representative agreement to build 10 restaurants over the next five years, with the first four opening in 2023. Pennsylvania will be the ninth state where Goodcents restaurants will operate.

The agreement covers four counties in southeast Pennsylvania: Adams, Dauphin, Delaware and Lehigh. The first two restaurants will open in existing convenience stores at 4910 Fairfield Road in Fairfield in March and 12 Deatrick Dr., Gettysburg, in April.

In Pennsylvania, the area representative is a group of family members operating as Shree Harikrishna LLC. At Goodcents, area representatives invest in a geographic area and are responsible for developing 10 stores within the area. In return, the representative receives a portion of the franchise fees and royalties from the locations.

"We are thrilled to be bringing Goodcents to Pennsylvania," Jami Bond, Goodcents vice president of franchise development, said in a company press release. "We are excited to introduce Goodcents' quality food and great customer service to a new market as we grow the brand in a new state. We expect Pennsylvanians will become Goodcents fans pretty quickly after they smell our bread baking in their neighborhood stores."

The sub sandwich franchise, with deep roots in the Midwest, has 64 locations across eight states with dozens of locations in development and further expansion in new markets planned.

Last year, Goodcents recorded about $45 million in global sales, which reflected a sales growth of nearly 20%, according to the release. Earlier this year, the company reported a record annual unit volume for a second consecutive year. The AUV for 2021 was $723,559, up 20.4% from 2020, according to a Goodcents annual franchise disclosure document.
