Texas-based Golden Corral is entering the fast casual market with Homeward Kitchen, opening in December in Southern Pines, North Carolina, at 10735 US 15-501. The renovated restaurant will serve "slow-cooked, served fast" meals with dine-in, take-out and drive-thru options available.

"We see an opportunity to provide wholesome, craveable food for families on the go. We're excited to launch a concept that combines high quality, freshly prepared, classic comfort foods, with the convenience of being able to enjoy them in the restaurant, on the go, through the drive-thru, or at home." Golden Corral Corporation President and CEO Lance Trenary said in a company press release. "Homeward Kitchen is the perfect way to enjoy a delicious, satisfying meal that fits in with the busy pace of everyday life."

The restaurant will have two dining areas for dine-in, a designated area for online and third-party takeout orders, and a drive-thru for guests on the go. Those looking to feed large groups will have the choice of family style servings for take-home feasts.

"We think Homeward Kitchen can be a staple in every community," Trenary said. "We've put together an outstanding team to lead the opening of the first Homeward Kitchen, and once we have successfully launched in Southern Pines, we will quickly pursue growth opportunities nationwide."

Homeward Kitchen's menu will feature a 12-hour Slow-Cooked Pot Roast with Homestyle Vegetables, as well as Fried Chicken, a half-pound Meatloaf Sandwich, made-from-scratch, Cajun Mac and cheese Balls, Fried Green Tomatoes, Nashville and Hot Honey Dipped Chicken Sandwiches, desserts and sides. Itd will also have oversized breakfast sandwiches, bowls, overnight oats and breakfast bakes paired with Costa Coffee offerings.

Golden Corral has nearly 500 locations.
