Giraffas CEO honored by Miami Beacon Council

Joao Barbosa, the U.S. CEO of the Brazilian chain Giraffas, was honored by Miami's Beacon Council during the group's annual Key Ceremony for providing more than 200 jobs throughout South Florida.

Giraffas has nearly 400 restaurants in Brazil and plans to have 14 locations in the U.S. in 2014.

"Being honored by this city is a true example of partnership and the opportunity that exists in South Florida," Barbosa said. "We are excited to be bringing the Brazil and Latin American flavors at affordable prices to the U.S. market. Our plans are to dominate in key markets that appreciate what we bring to the table."
