Gina's Gelato learning the coffee biz from Crimson Cup

Gina's Gelato and Java opened in Parma Heights after receiving support from Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea's, "7 Steps to Success," a consulting program based on the book "Seven Steps to Success: A Common-sense Guide to Succeed in Specialty Coffee."

"Crimson Cup's support was and still is overwhelming," Jeff Caro said in the release. "From building out the business to our first week of operations, we always felt like we had a true partner by our side."

Crimson's program teaches everything from writing a strong coffee shop business plan and calculating startup costs to buying and laying out equipment, marketing and hiring and training staff.

"We've always dreamed of creating a place where people could connect over coffee or dessert," Gina's co-owner Gina Caro said in a company press release. "We're thrilled by the response so far — customers keep telling us how excited they are to have both coffee and gelato under one roof."

Crimson Cup, a coffee roaster based in Columbus, Ohio, has helped over 300 independent coffee businesses through its startup program.
