Giardino closes 2013 with sales increases

January 22, 2014

Giardino Gourmet Salads posted solid growth in 2013, reporting 10.6 percent positive comparable sales, according to a company press release. This increase comes over a double digit comparable sales increase the prior year, making it the chain's eighth consecutive quarter of positive comparables.

"This positive ending to 2013 has made us confident for continued growth," said Ody Lugo, co-founder and head of menu innovation at Giardino Gourmet Salads. "This year, we're holding menu innovation at the forefront of our 2014 plans as we feel health remains an ongoing trend in food. As a salad concept, we're solidifying our brand's place in the spectrum by introducing these new offerings."

Lugo said the new menu items and the chain's positive sales numbers make it possible to keep expanding the system. Three locations are projected to open this year; one of which belongs to Giardino's first multi-unit operator.
