Based in Glasgow, Scotland, German Doner Kebab has opened its 50th restaurant in the U.K., marking the thirteenth store to open this year and the creation of nearly 500 jobs. It has plans in the pipeline for 350 franchised units over the next seven years.
"Reaching 50 restaurants in the U.K. is a landmark moment for the German Doner Kebab story as we build momentum in our plans to grow the fast-casual brand of the future," CEO Imran Sayeed said in a company press release.
The chain, which employs more than 1,500 people, serves kebabs made from premium, lean, meats and fresh local vegetables in handmade toasted breads with signature sauces.
"Reaching 50 restaurants in the U.K. is a huge moment in our story and represents a huge achievement for everyone in the German Doner Kebab family," Sayeed said. "Our game-changing kebabs are revolutionizing the kebab and this has driven huge consumer demand as we bring the German Doner Kebab experience to even more consumers across the country.
German Doner Kebab has 73 restaurants in the U.K., Europe and Middle East and is expanding in the U.S., Canada and Ireland.
