German Doner Kebab opening 100th UK location

Glasgow, Scotland-based German Doner Kebab is opening its 100th UK restaurant this week in Covent Garden on St. Martins Lane in London, which is in the heart of the Theatre District.
"Opening our 100th UK restaurant is a landmark moment in the German Doner Kebab story but we are not stopping there," CEO Imran Sayeed said in a company press release. "Our goal for 2022 is to almost double our UK portfolio and continue our mission to bring the GDK experience to more cities and towns throughout the UK. We are a brand that listens to the needs of our customers and have been responding to the huge demand for our game-changing kebabs throughout the UK."
The 100th restaurant opens as German Doner Kebab forges ahead with plans to open 78 restaurants in the UK during 2022, building on the 39 that it opened in 2021. Now employing over 3,500 people in its restaurants throughout the country, the brand has a development pipeline of 350 franchise units over the next seven years and has delivered a significant rise in UK total sales in 2021, up 75% from the previous 12 months, according to the release.
GDK also has locations in Sweden, the Middle East, US and Canada. By year's end, the chain will add 11 restaurants in North America as well as its first unit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
