Glasgow, Scotland-based German Doner Kebab is opening 100 restaurants in Canada over the next 10 years, according to a company press release. Three will open by by year's end with the flagship debuting in May in downtown Toronto.
"Our first two restaurants in Ottawa and Surrey (British Colulmbia) have met our expectations and we are looking forward to forging ahead with our ambitious growth plans for Canada and North America," Nigel Belton, German Doner Kebab managing director for North America, said in the release.
The chain is also seeking multi-unit franchise partners in Montreal, Calgary and Ottawa as part of its growth plans for Canada.
The brand has 73 restaurants and is embarking on growth across the U.K., Sweden, North America and the Middle East, with over 700 franchises signed-up for its global growth strategy.
In North America, the development pipeline includes, along with Canada, key locations in the U.S. spanning Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, New Jersey, and Houston.
"German Doner Kebab is a huge opportunity, it's a proven global hit and brings a fast-casual dining experience that is resonating with the Millennial and Gen Z audience," Belton said. "Our proposition is also backed by an experienced global team that support our franchise partners with operations, supply-chain, marketing, site development and finance."
