From college grad to Red Mango franchisee

As new college graduates polish their resumes and prepare to enter the workforce, a growing crowd of 20-somethings is emerging with dreams of owning a business and working for themselves. Simran Lamba is one on them. Lamba, who graduated in May, will go straight from the classroom to running his own Red Mango at 1955 Blackrock Turnpike in Fairfield, Conn.

"I come from a family of entrepreneurs," said Lamba, who grew up helping his mother run a successful apparel business. "And becoming a business owner is my opportunity to apply the knowledge I've gained in college and the skills I've acquired to serving guests healthy, fun frozen treats at Red Mango."

Lamba plans to make his business a family affair. His mother, Rose Lamba, will help operate his store, the second Red Mango in the state.

"I grew up on Long Island, where there are almost 50 Red Mango locations, so I've seen the success and popularity of the brand grow," Lamba said. "The products are delicious and nutritious. Once I decided to open a Red Mango, I knew Fairfield was a great spot to introduce our convenient products that are perfect for health-conscious guests on-the-go."
