Three popular fast casual chains — Fazoli's, Panera Bread and FREEBIRDS — announced this week that they are running promotions in support of October being Breat Cancer Awareness Month.
Pink Ribbon Bagels back at Panera
Panera Bread is now running its 11th Annual Pink Ribbon Bagel campaign with proceeds supporting Rocky Mountain Cancer Assistance (RMCA) and breast cancer support as part of a month-long campaign.
Panera donated 100 percent of proceeds from its signature Pink Ribbon Bagel sold on Oct. 1, and for the remainder of the month will donate 10 cents of the proceeds from each Pink Ribbon Bagel sold.
Shaped in the form of the iconic pink ribbon, the Pink Ribbon Bagel features cherry chips, dried cherries and cranberries, vanilla, honey and brown sugar, and is baked fresh each morning by Panera's bakers at each bakery-cafe.
Sue Stees, one of Panera Bread's first franchisees and a breast cancer survivor, developed the Pink Ribbon Bagel in 2001 as a way to help support breast cancer research.
Fazoli's partnering with National Breast Cancer Foundation
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Fazoli's is partnering with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to raise money through the sale of a special Pink Lemon Italian Ice.
Participating restaurants will sell the frozen treat flavored with Monin Guava Syrup, at a special LTO price of $1.99, with $1 of each sold going to NBCF.
FREEBIRDS fans providing free meals to cancer patients
During the month of October, FREEBIRDS and its charity arm, FREEBIRDS World Works will Support Breast Cancer Awareness Month by encouraging its "Fanatics," or loyalty members, to donate their "stamps" (accrued loyalty points) in order to provide meals for families going through breast cancer treatments.
In addition, during the week of Oct. 13-20, all 80-plus FREEBIRDS locations will participate in the third annual FREEBIRDS Pink Week. Team members will wear pink tie-dye tee shirts, decorate the restaurants with pink and perhaps even dye their hair pink as in years past in order to raise awareness about breast cancer.
Fanatics can go to www.freebirds.com/donate and donate as many or as few points as they would like. At the end of the month, FREEBIRDS will load points in the form of gift cards to give to local hospitals. The hospitals will give the cards to families going through treatment so they can redeem the cards for some FREEBIRDS food.
