Freebirds offering freebies to nurses, teachers

Texas-based Freebirds World Burrito is donating over 1,000 meals to schools and medical centers in Texas in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week and National Nurses Week. Donations will take place in Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and Houston starting Monday, the beginning of Teacher Appreciation Week, through May 12 when National Nurses Week ends.

"Teachers and nurses are our local heroes, especially over the last year," CEO Alex Eagle said in a company press release. "We're honored to show our thanks to this important group by donating to some of our favorite local centers and by offering a boxed lunch deal for everyone."

Additionally, the chain's catered boxed lunches will be available for a discounted price of $10 throughout Teacher Appreciation Week and National Nurses Week.

Freebirds has over 50 locations in Texas.
