Freebirds World Burrito has closed three units in the Kansas City area, according to an email to FastCasual from the chain's PR company, Bread & Butter Public Relations. All three stores were corporate-owned.
Earlier this month, the chain shuttered its Westport location in Kansas City, Missouri; last week, workers were packing up equipment at the unit in Mission, Kansas, according to the Kansas City Star.
The landlord for a third location in Overland Park, Kansas, told the newspaper that it had closed last week. A location in Lee's Summit, Missouri, closed last year.
Texas-based Freebirds, which has approximately 90 locations, opened its first unit in the Kansas City area in 2012.
