Bubbakoo's Burritos credits aggressive franchising, which led to six new locations, in making 2017 its best year to date seven months in, according to a press release.
"We're pretty ambitious and really believe that from a franchising standpoint, we've proven the concept," Co-Founder Paul Altero said in the release. "However, I don't think we would have been able to do that if we opened two or three restaurants and then went right to franchise. We wanted the growth via franchising to mirror the company's expansion thus far — steady, but smart."
Altero launched his concept's franchising initiative in 2015 with Co-Founder Bill Hart. The duo hopes to open 20 locations by year's end.
"Bubbakoo's fills a unique role in the fast casual restaurant space, providing competition to national chains like Chipotle and Qdoba, as well as various regional outfits," Altero said in the release. "We always knew we had something special and hoped we could expand, but we never thought it would happen this quick."
