Brinker International Inc. said Wednesday that two franchise groups in Mexico are planning to open 14 new Chili's Grill & Bar locations in and around Mexico City.
Alsea S.A. de C.V., which operates more than 660 Domino's Pizza, Burger King, Starbuck's and Popeye's Chicken locations in Mexico and Brazil, recently acquired a 60 percent stake in Grupo Alimentos y Diversion, or Grupo ALDI, which operates 10 Chili's franchised restaurants in and around Mexico City.
The new Alsea/Grupo ALDI partnership is the second Chili's franchise group in Mexico. The other is Delicias Gastronomicas, which operates 16 Chili's locations in Monterrey, Guadalajara, Chihuahua and Cancun, and is planning to open four new locations.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Chili's, which has more than 1,000 locations worldwide, is owned and operated by Dallas-based Brinker International Inc. (NYSE: EAT). Brinker's other concepts include Romano's Macaroni Grill, Maggiano's Little Italy, On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina and Corner Bakery Cafe, which is for sale.
