Founder of 16 Handles dies at 44

Solomon Choi, 44, of Manhasset, New York, died June 7, 2024. Before founding Jabba Brands in 2019 to advise, invest and operate foodservice companies, he founded16 Handles, New York City's first self-serve frozen yogurt shop that grew to over 40 locations internationally, and Greeno Products, a supplier of custom and off-the-shelf disposables for the foodservice industry. He was also an Angel Squad member at Hustle Fund, a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage start-ups in various sectors.

Born on April 20, 1980, to William WonJin Choi and Jennifer YunHwa Choi in Seoul, South Korea, he moved to the U.S. and eventually attended the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business, graduating with a BS in Business Administration in 2002.

He his survived by his wife, Hannah, and two children, Jubilee, 7, and Joshua, 4, as well as his parents, his sisters, Erica Choi and Esther Choi, brothers-in-law George Kimmel and Brycen Fauser, and his nieces and nephews Tommy Kimmel, Noelle Kimmel and Forest Fauser.

"Solomon was an outstanding example of a man driven by his purpose and faith in God and passionate about sharing the love of Christ with others," according to his obituary. "He led a Christian men's group and was committed to supporting and challenging those around him to be the best versions of themselves. ... Most importantly, he was committed to loving his wife and children to the best of his ability and will be remembered as the world's best husband and daddy."

Services will be held at 5 p.m., at Promise Church in Flushing, New York. Burial services will be held at Pinelawn Cemetery at 11 a.m., June 15.
