Former Dallas Cowboys player Charlie Williams and his wife, Sharonda, are getting into the smoothie business. The couple is opening a Smoothie Factory Juice Bar next month in Mansfield, Texas, at 1681 E. Broad St..
"As a professional athlete, I learned about sports nutrition and saw firsthand the major impact that nutrition has on your physical health and well-being," Charlie Williams said in a company press release. "After making the decision to alter my diet to include more unprocessed foods, I saw a change in my energy levels and my practices were more productive. "'m thrilled to open a Smoothie Factory to offer high-quality nutritional products to the community of Mansfield."
They'll host a grand opening event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., March 7 with giveaways, former Dallas Cowboys players signing autographs, face painting and a performance from a local high school band.
Williams played for the Dallas Cowboys from 1995 to 2000 before transitioning to a career in the construction business, and Sharonda worked in the insurance industry. After moving to Mansfield, the two were looking for their next career move when they saw the need for healthier options in their local community.
"With the Willams' passion for the brand and Charlie's background as a professional athlete, they are the perfect pair to operate this new location," Craig Erlich, president and CEO of Smoothie Holdings FC LLC. "We look forward to working with the Williams' to build their business and offer the Mansfield community a place to enjoy fresh juices and smoothies."
Based in Dallas, The Smoothie Factory has more than 25 locations.
