First Gourmet Chicken Restaurant set for College Park, Ga.

Gourmet Chicken Company has signed the first of several leases planned for the new brand. The first restaurant will be located at 4874 Old National Highway in College Park, Ga., across from the 30,000-member World Changers Christian Ministries and less than 3 miles from Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, according to a company press release.

"I am very familiar with the area because my family owned and operated the Popeye's Chicken on Old National for five years," said CEO James Boyd. "We were well supported by the College Park community and I look forward to serving my old and new customers."

Boyd did not give a time estimate to convert the former Sonic restaurant into the Gourmet Chicken concept but said, "We're negotiating with other developers for several additional locations in the Atlanta area."
