First Black-eyed Pea Express opens
July 28, 2009
The first Black-eyed Pea Express restaurant has opened in Austin featuring a streamlined menu of home-style items that are prepared in just 3-5 minutes.
"While the Black-eyed Pea is mostly free standing casual dining in a family atmosphere, we want to give our second and third generation customers the experience they want and we believe that includes a fast casual service component," said Bob Langford, CEO of parent-company RAI. "At our Black-eyed Pea Express, you order at the counter and we deliver your meal to your table along with continuing great service by our team throughout your meal."
The Black-eyed Pea Express is open from 11 a.m.-10 p.m., and is one of 31 Black-eyed Pea restaurants based in Texas. The concept, which was founded in 1975 in Dallas, serves everything from pot roast and chicken fried steak to hot yeast rolls and garden-fresh vegetables.
