Firehouse Subs names Robin Peters executive director of public safety foundation

June 8, 2010

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has announced the appointment of Robin Peters as executive director. She joins the organization bringing more than 20 years of extensive non-profit fundraising to her new position.

"At some point you or someone you know will rely on emergency services to protect, or in most cases, save a life," Peters said. "As we move forward, we will look to expand our restaurant donations, while also reaching out to members of the community to meet and exceed our $1 million goal. Our success will positively impact everyone."

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was founded by Firehouse Subs founders Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen. The former firefighters started the charity in 2005 with the mission of providing life-saving equipment, prevention and educational tools, natural disaster preparedness and ground support, as well as financial resources to fund support scholarships and continuing education. Peters is charged with expanding the organization's reach nationally.

Since 2005, $2.2 million has been raised through Firehouse Subs restaurants. Most of the money is raised by loose change and dollar bills donated at canisters, and a unique and popular fundraising program of recycling empty pickle buckets for $2. Donations also are made by visiting firehousesubs.com.
